VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: THIRD PLACE FOR MATTIA PINAZZI AT THE TOUR OF HAINAN.
The sprinter from Parma, Mattia Pinazzi, takes third place. Third place as well for the Tuscan Filippo Magli in the final standings. Tonelli awarded as the most combative rider.
Another great team performance in the final stage of the Tour of Hainan, the longest one with its 203km. Thanks to perfect race management, Mattia Pinazzi took a podium finish in the sprint. Very active was Alessandro Tonelli, determined to get into all the breakaways, and the athlete from Brescia, born in ’92, was awarded as the most combative rider of the day. To crown this trip, another podium came, this time in the final classification, where Filippo Magli claimed third place, the best result for an Italian athlete in the competition.
Here are Mattia Pinazzi’s words: ‘There was a bit of a battle in the first part of the race, both for the time bonuses and to help the breakaways. In the middle of the race, there was a climb that created some selection. I, personally, struggled; I got dropped but managed to rejoin after the climb. There were several breakaways, but we always had one of our riders in them, like Tonelli, who did a great job today. In the final, Zanoncello and I were supposed to sprint together. In the last kilometer, there was a crash, and I almost got caught in it. However, I was in a good position in the slipstream. I moved to the center of the road, gained a couple of positions, and finished third. I’m happy with the result and the great work of the team.’
In this race, the VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè achieved: 3 podiums, with Magli, Pinazzi, and Zanoncello, and three Top 10 finishes.
