VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: THE LINEUP FOR IL LOMBARDIA.
The 7 riders have been selected for the "Classic of the Falling Leaves" the final race of Domenico Pozzovivo's career.
Scheduled for Saturday, October 12, the final “Monument” of the season, Il Lombardia, will once again take place from Bergamo to Como, covering 252 km. In the final stretch, the riders will face some iconic climbs, such as the Madonna del Ghisallo, the Colma di Sormano, and the steep San Fermo della Battaglia.
The VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè team will start with 7 athletes, including Domenico Pozzovivo, who will be competing in the last race of his career. The rider from Basilicata had already matched Davide Rebellin’s record for Giro dell’Emilia participations, and at Il Lombardia, he will also reach Rebellin’s record of 16 appearances. Pozzovivo first participated in the race in 2005.
His words: “Il Lombardia is the Classic I have participated in the most times during my career, and matching the late Davide Rebellin’s record here as well is a great source of pride. The fact that this will be the final race of my career adds emotion and, at the same time, a great motivation to end a wonderful 20-year journey in professional cycling in the best possible way.”
Also starting for VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè will be experienced riders like Luca Covili and Alessandro Tonelli. Completing the lineup are several young riders making their debut in the “Classic of the Falling Leaves,” such as Alessio Martinelli, Alessandro Pinarello, Matteo Scalco, and Giulio Pellizzari from the Marche region. The team will be led by sports directors Roberto Reverberi and Mirko Rossato.
