VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: SECOND PLACE FOR PELLIZZARI IN THE SIXTEENTH STAGE OF THE GIRO D’ITALIA.
The man from Marche thrilled Italy, attacking and putting on a show in the final kilometers, only to be overtaken at the last moment by Tadej Pogačar.
Giulio Pellizzari, the youngest participant in the Giro d’Italia, thrilled Italy by coming close to winning the stage. The rider from Marche attacked solo on the final climb, gaining a decent advantage, but Pogačar caught up with and passed him in the closing kilometer. In the tight sprint, Pellizzari finished ahead of Daniel Martinèz, securing a prestigious podium, the most significant result of his very young career.
Pellizzari’s statements: “I had good feelings before the stage, I’ve had several physical problems in the last few days, but I overcame them thanks to the team’s help. I even thought about withdrawing, but in the end, both Massimiliano Gentili and Piepoli, my coach, convinced me not to give up, and here I am. I started with the intention of winning today, when Pogačar caught me, I thought ‘damn,’ but that’s how it went, and I accept the defeat. I’m happy with the performance and I thank Tadej because he gave me the pink jersey, I will frame it, a beautiful gift.”
