VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: GIRO D’AUSTRIA, STAGE TWO. MARCELLUSI COMES CLOSE TO VICTORY.

Marcellusi narrowly misses out on his first professional victory at the Giro d'Austria: "There's a bit of disappointment, but there will be other chances."

Martin Marcellusi is making a big splash in the Tour of Austria! After a strong showing with a fifth-place finish in stage one, he came agonizingly close to his first professional victory today. Colombian rider Brandon Rivera edged him out by mere centimeters in a thrilling sprint finish. This impressive performance propels Marcellusi into sixth place in the overall standings.

Marcellusi Reflects on the Race:

In his post-race interview, Marcellusi expressed his mixed emotions: “It was a well-controlled race. We knew the final stretch well and strategized accordingly during our team meeting this morning. Maintaining good positioning was key,and I managed to enter the last corner in second place. However, I launched my sprint a bit too early, and Rivera capitalized on that opportunity, overtaking me at the very last moment. There’s definitely some disappointment about losing the win, but I know there will be other chances for me in the upcoming stages. I especially want to thank my teammates Tolio and Pellizzari, whose contributions were crucial today.”

Strong performance by Pellizzari too, grabbing sixth place after working perfectly for Marcellusi in the final kilometers. Alex Tolio also did well, finishing the stage in the leading group.
