The rider from Empoli secures a spot just off the podium at the Gran Piemonte: "Important result and great team performance."
Great result for Filippo Magli from Empoli at the Gran Piemonte, where the Tuscan rider achieved his best performance in a 1.Pro category race. The race was animated from the early stages by his teammate, Luca Colnaghi, who joined the day’s breakaway. After the final climb at Passo della Colma, three riders from the team remained in the chasing group: Covili, Pinarello, and Magli himself. The day’s winner was Neilson Powless from EF Education-EasyPost, who launched an attack 40 km from the finish. In the sprint of the chasing group, at the Borgomanero finish line, Magli secured fourth place, behind Alex Aranburu and Corbin Strong.
Magli’s words: “On the final climb, the toughest one, I stayed with Pinarello and Covili. The pace was relentless, and in the end, Powless broke away and won. Both Pinarello and Covili gave me great support. I could have done better, maybe even reached the podium, but we’re still happy with this excellent team performance.”
