FIRST #GREENTEAM PODIUM IN 2017: RUFFONI THIRD IN SAN JUAN
Bardiani-CSF took today its first podium of the season. Nicola Ruffoni, at his first and real chance of sprint, placed third behind Gaviria (Quick-Step) and Viviani (Italian Team). After two chances conditioned by bad luck, in San Martin, finish line of stage four (start in the same town, 160 km the distance), the Italian sprinter performed with good success.
“It was my first sprint of the year in a race and I’m satisfied. I finished behind to champion such as Gaviria and Viviani, who already showed a great condition, and this a good result and a positive feedback about my sprint” said Ruffoni. “Since the first day I feel good and maybe I could be more competitive, but due to the bagarre I was closed in the final straight and I had to come back strong before taking Viviani’s wheel”.
As well as Ruffoni, the whole #GreenTeam performed well today, working hard to offer to support the sprinter.
“They did a really good job to catch a large and dangerous breakaway. Everyone swaps at the head of the bunch pulling hard. No one saved energy and I thank them. They trusted in me and this is an important boost of confidence for a sprinter” added Ruffoni.
After tomorrow queen stage, Ruffoni will have two other chances for a sprint before the end of the race.
