GUARDINI CLAIMS THE FIRST WIN OF 2019 SEASON
“FLASH” WINS THE FINAL OF ISTRIAN SPRING TROPHY
Bardiani-CSF celebrates today its first success of the season. In fourth and last stage of Istrian Spring Trophy (Pazin-Umag, 156 km) Andrea Guardini dominates the massive sprint. For the Italian sprinter it is the 44th success in career, the first one in Croatia. Behind him Hjemsaeter (Team Coop) and Dalla Valle (Tirol-KTM).
“Of course I’m happy to have broken the ice, for me and the team,” Guardini explained. “The second place at Umag Trophy, on the same arrival of today, left me a bitter taste. I absolutely wanted to redeem myself, but of course I knew it would not be easy ”.
“It was a nervous stage, both for the course both for the wind. More than one team tried to set the pace and and to make echelons to get me out of the games, but we didn’t let ourselves be surprised. Rota, Orsini, Carboni and Savini did a great job keeping me covered, allowing me to save energy. In the tricky finale, mindful of Umag Trophy, I asked Albanese to keep me in front until the last bend. Then I let two riders pass, I followed their wheels and opened the gas in the last few meters “.
The #GreenTeam returns to Italy from Croatian trip with Guardini’s success, together with yesterday’s third place and the eighth in the general classification of Rota.
