GREEN PROJECT BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: HERE ARE THE 8 RIDERS CHOSEN FOR THE GIRO D’ITALIA.

Here are the fantastic 8 who will make up the official lineup for the most anticipated event of the entire season: the Giro d'Italia.

Just a few days to the official start of the Giro d’Italia with the opening stage in Fossacesina Marina scheduled for Saturday, May 6. For the team directed by General Manager Bruno Reverberi, this will be the 41st participation. A selection of 8 men with complementary characteristics, to be protagonists on all terrains, from sprints to climbs and especially on the attack.

The lineup, selected by Sports Director Roberto Reverberi, the goal is the same: “Our goal is to return to the stage victory. We have men capable of doing that, such as our veteran Alessandro Tonelli. For the uphill stages there will be Luca Covili, as well as there will be Davide Gabburo who almost won a stage last year, we have young and fierce riders like Martin Marcellusi and Filippo Magli. In addition we have Henok, a rider who proved his worth at the Tour du Rwanda. For sprints we have Fiorelli and for distance actions Zoccarato. A nice mix of athletes, with different characteristics, but designed to achieve a common goal: to always be protagonists.”

Filippo Fiorelli (1994), the Sicilian athlete launched by the #greenteam is in his fourth year as a professional and his fourth participation in the Corsa Rosa. After his first career victory achieved at the Porec Trophy in 2021, he is in the hunt for his first Italian success, grazed at the Giro di Sicilia with his 2nd place in Termini Imerese. In 2022 he was forced to retire after 5 stages, this Giro d’Italia for Fiorelli will be one of redemption.

Samuele Zoccarato (1998) third at the Italian road championship in 2021 and winner of the Italian Gravel championship in 2022, this year protagonist of several escapes, such as at Milano Sanremo. He will try again in this Giro to strike with a breakaway action. Zoccarato totaled an impressive 1200km of breakaways in 2023, he is first in the ranking.

Martin Marcellusi (2000) in his first participation in the pink race, last year collected several successes among the Under23s, wants a stage win in the Giro and is determined to finish it in “his” Rome.

Filippo Magli (1999), the Tuscan class of 1999 is in his first year as a professional and is steadily improving, in 2023 he was the protagonist of several breakaways, he will try to sting with actions from afar.

Alessandro Tonelli (1992), for the 30-year-old Brescian, it is his ninth season in the Green Project Bardiani-CSF Faizanè jersey, it will be his fourth participation in the Giro d’Italia. A breakaway protagonist for five consecutive years at the Milano-Sanremo, he has also shown his ability to hit important actions at the Giro d’Italia. last year he achieved his best finish with a third place in the 19th stage in Marano Lagunare.

Davide Gabburo (1993), now in his fifth year as a professional and his third participation in the Giro d’Italia. In 2022 he thrilled Italy with his 2nd place in Naples in stage 8 and 4th place in the 18th.

 

Henok Mulubrhan (1999) for the Eritrean rider, African continental champion, this is his first participation in the Giro d’Italia, winner in February of the Tour du Rwanda. He is the first African rider in the history of the #greenteam to participate in the Giro.

Luca Covili (1997), for the 26-year-old from Pavullo nel Frignano, this will be his fourth participation in the Corsa Rosa. Climbing characteristics, highlighted at the Giro 2022 where he finished 6th in stage 15 and 24th overall.
