BARDIANI CSF FAIZANÈ: LUCA COLNAGHI WENTS CLOSE TO THE FIRST VICTORY AMONG PROS. 2nd PLACE IN TODAY STAGE AT TOUR DE SLOVAQUIE.

Second stage place for Luca Colnaghi at the Tour de Slovaquie, for him the first podium among the professionals after the good placements in the top 10 achieved until today. The excellent positioning in the last bends allows him to reach an important podium behind the winner Koen Bouwman (Jumbo-Visma).

Luca Colnaghi went close to the first success among the pros, taking a good second stage place at the Tour de Slovaquie. A podium that represents his best performance until now, in this first year among professionals, where he had already reached some important placements such as the recent 4th place at the Tour Poitou Charantes and the 5th place at the beginning of the season at the Trofeo Playa de Palma. The appointment with the first victory is postponed for him, today he had to give up to an excellent World Tour rider such as Koen Bouwman (Jumbo-Visma).

Third stage of the Tour de Slovaquie, a stage with an hard route the KOM of the day and the more than 3,000 meters in altitude have an impact, but make less selection than was expected on the finish line. After a good breakaway that saw Alessandro Tonelli among the protagonists, on today’s arrival it is therefore a sprint of the group of the best made up of about fifty units. Luca Colnaghi is the man designated by Bardiani CSF Faizanè for the final, the 23-year-old from the #Greenteam was in fact good at resisting the roughness of the day to then play his chances in the final sprint. For him a good job of positioning in the final corners, and an excellent setting of the last corner that allows him to gain second position on the final straight which will then be confirmed also at the finish line.

These are the words of Luca Colnaghi after the finish: “We passed under the finish line about twenty kilometers before the arrival and we were therefore able to see the final corners. The stage with 3,600 meters of difference in altitude was not the easiest for me, it was not easy to be with the best ones, if Sports Directors Mirko Rossato hadn’t believed that I could able to stay with the best, I might have given up earlier. I managed to get back in the last 60km and then I held out on the climbs of the final. I have to thank Alessandro Tonelli who, after all the breakaway stage, also managed to give me a good hand. My goal was to get out as first on the last corner but I had to get in the middle of the Jumbos riders, the regret for second place remains, but in a stage like this with all this difference in height to be felt in my legs I can be more than satisfied. “

In the general classification still a good performance of the young riders of the team, with Alex Tolio 13th (and 5th among the youngsters) and Alessandro Pinarello 23rd (and 7th among the youngsters).
