ALESSIO MARTINELLI WINS THE GP ALANYA. FIRST SUCCESS FOR HIM AS A PRO, AND FIRST SEASONAL VICTORY FOR THE BARDIANI CSF FAIZANÈ.
A great teamwork, together with the precious teammate Alessandro Tonelli, leads Alessio Martinelli to raise his arms on the finish line of the GP Alanya. In fact, Alessio Martinelli regulates the restricted sprint of the group of five forwards, perfectly crowning the great pursuit work carried out together with his teammate on the Uno-X riders in the last 40 km of the race.
Alessio Martinelli wins the GP Alanya, beating in the short sprint of the group of forwards, the Norwegian Sindre Kulset of the Uno-X team. Fourth place for Alessandro Tonelli, as always a precious teammate who made a decisive contribution to the success of his teammate. For the twenty-year-old athlete, born in 2001, Alessio Martinelli is the first success as a pro rider, and for the Bardiani CSF Faizanè is the first victory of the season, obtained once again with a young Italian rider launched in professionalism by the #GreenTeam. For Bardiani CSF Faizanè it is also a particular double at the GP Alanya, where Davide Gabburo won the competition just a year ago. Very interesting race, with a mixed course that favored different actions and attacks from many riders. The decisive one started 40 km from the end, led by two riders from the Uno-X team. In pursuit of them 5 riders are launched, including Alessio Martinelli. Alessandro Tonelli will be able to bring himself back to the second group, who together with Martinelli leads the long pursuit of the Norwegian attackers. One of the athletes of the Uno-X team manages to resist alone up to 5km from the end when he is reabsorbed by the chasing group. It is therefore Alessandro Tonelli who tries a first attack alone, but is closed by his opponents, thus making himself available to Alessio Martinelli again to try to take advantage of his abilities in the sprints. The strategy was right with the young Alessio Martinelli regulating the sprint of the attackers. Final fourth place also for Alessandro Tonelli. These are the words of Alessio Martinelli after the finish-line: “The race was challenging. The asphalt was very deteriorated, it almost looked like a race on a dirt road. In the circuit with the climb to be repeated 3 times the real selection began and the Uno X broke the delay making a tough race. My only regret is that I did not keep the forcing of the two Uno-X athletes who initially escaped us uphill, but from that moment we managed perfectly in the race thanks to the experience of Tonelli and DS Mirko Rossato. The continuous updating from the flagship was very important, which made us manage well by updating us on the gaps and keeping us calm while they got tired in front. The final strategy was also perfect. Alessandro Tonelli first halved the group with his attacks, then despite his experience he sacrificed himself for me to put me in the best conditions. The merit of this victory is as much mine as his, a true team man, always precious with his advice. After two years of not winning, I feel really happy. It took me a long time to recover from the fall and now I can say that I am recovering 100%. For me today is a starting point in view of the important races where I want to confirm my value. “
